And the winners are ... Memphis Health & Fitness

There is nothing more important to The Donahue than good health. So it was with pride that he set out to present Memphis Most Awards to those fit stores and institutions that are tops among our readers.

The Peddler snagged the award for Best Bike Shop, which The Donahue celebrated by commandeering a tricycle and vowing to take it on a 50-mile extreme off-road course. A date has not been set.

A vigorous walk down the road was Outdoors Inc., which got the coveted "M" for Best Outdoor Store. One look at the kayak sitting out on Poplar, and the snappily dressed party man had to ride it. He was outfitted with safety jacket, paddles and a helmet, the last of which caused some consternation as he said, "How do you put this on?" Logistics were solved and The Donahue rode the concrete rapids of East Memphis.

One of the highlights of the Memphis Most Awards Tour was Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, voted Best Women's Hospital. Anita Vaughn, the hospital's CEO, met The Donahue and told him he was the proud father of a Mini-Me. The usual looks of bafflement and panic crossed his face. Happily, he regained his composure and was introduced to a spanking new party correspondent who pulled his hair and asked how to spell his name.
