You can drink and play pool and eat pizza at The Hi-Tone Cafe, but this place (once home to the Kang Rhee Karate Studio) is a mecca for musicians and the people who love them. It's the home of Gonerfest — the sixth edition occurs next month. It routinely hosts cutting-edge musical acts and longtime local favorites. Just pick a night and go — you may not like the band you walk in on, but maybe you’ll fall in love with the next one. It’s a creative hotbed of Memphis music.
